Fraenkel Gallery, Marc Selwyn Fine Art and Pace/MacGill Gallery present a special project featuring Richard Misrach's Border Cantos for the inaugural Art Basel Miami Beach Meridians. Border Cantos is a highly acclaimed series consisting of timely and provocative images captured at the boundary between Mexico and the United States. The juxtaposition of the three landscapes make a magnificent and thought-provoking presentation which becomes all the more relevant in Miami, a cultural and geopolitical crossroads of Latin America and America.

Since the 1970s, Richard Misrach has photographed the dynamic landscape of the American West through an environmentally and politically astute lens. Over the last decade, Misrach has turned his attention to the increasingly militarized 1,969 mile border between the United States and Mexico. In his Border Cantos series, Misrach depicts sections of the wall, Border Patrol shooting ranges, tire drags used to monitor migrant traffic, personal artifacts left behind on migrant journeys, and glimpses of everyday life from both sides of the border. For the debut of Art Basel Miami Beach Meridians, the artist has created a suite of three exceptionally large scaled artist proofs from the series to be exhibited and sold as a single monumental work.
