Pace/MacGill Gallery is pleased to participate in the 50th Edition of Art Basel. The gallery will feature a selection of works by photographers and estates across its program, such as Harry Callahan, Peter Hujar, Richard Learoyd, Richard Misrach, Irving Penn, and Michal Rovner, among others.

A dedicated portion of the booth will explore the myriad ways artists have embraced and employed multi-part, serial, and sequential imagery throughout 20th- and 21st-century photography. This presentation will include Richard Avedon's group portraits of cultural and political figures from the late 1960s and early 1970s, as well as Paul Graham's eight-frame visual vignette of California life from a shimmer of possibility, 2004 – 2006. A large-scale, seven-panel composition of 1962 Tokyo subway commuters by the Japanese photographer Hiro will also be on view, alongside a 28-print portfolio by Sol LeWitt, a photo-sequence by Duane Michals, Yoshitomo Nara's recent diptychs, and Tomoko Sawada's grid of 100 passport-sized self-portraits.

In addition to a new video work by Michal Rovner, the gallery will also exhibit David Hockney's latest foray into computer-manipulated photography, and is pleased to debut Carmen Winant's Sensation, 2019. Presented in collaboration with Fortnight Institute, this found-image piece is informed by Audre Lorde's text, Uses of the Erotic: The Erotic as Power.

Pace/MacGill is a leading fine art photography gallery known for discovering artists, representing masters of the medium, and placing important collections and archives into major public institutions. Since its founding in 1983 by Peter MacGill, in collaboration with Arne Glimcher of Pace and Richard Solomon of Pace Editions, Pace/MacGill has presented over 350 exhibitions and published numerous catalogues on modern and contemporary photography.
